ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY

Our club participates in the Ministry of Transportation's "Adopt-A-Highway" program—more familiarly known as "Adopt-A-Ditch" by club members, as the majority of their time picking up the trash strewn along the Pat Bay Highway is actually spent in ditches.

Our most recent ditch-diving took place on April 7th, under the leadership of Lloyd Kruger. Lloyd reports:

Although the threat of rain persisted, the current edition of the ‘Dirty Ditch Team’ boldly stepped out with trash bags in one hand, and spikes in the other hand. This year’s team members included Maria & Meredith, Ginny & Peter, Marie & daughter Michelle capably assisted by Mathew & Ben, Pat & Judy, and Charlie & Rick, with Rick’s daughter Caitlin. Absentees not only missed a pleasant walk in the ‘Park’; they missed the fellowship of discussing some of the wondrous treasures that were picked up along the way. These included a T.V., a shopping cart, a squirrel, assorted credit cards, some re-bar, and many other discards. I wish to thank everyone who participated in the project. You may not agree with the philosophy of this project, but there was no denying that those who took part enjoyed the afternoon.
